The Los Angeles Dodgers hit three home runs on Monday night as they went onto defeat the New York Mets 5-1.  Rafael Furcal got things started with a lead off home run to start the game off of Oliver Perez.  Blake DeWitt and Matt Kemp both went deep in the fifth inning off of Perez as well.

Besides the RBI’s from Furcal, DeWitt, and Kemp, Russell Martin also had a RBI single in the first inning.  The Dodgers only struck out three times in the game and only left seven guys on base.  It was a productive night at the plate.

Chad Billingsley picked up the win for the Dodgers as he tossed six innings of five hit ball.  He did allow one run while walking four batters and striking out four batters.  Joe Beimel, Jonathan Broxton, and Takashi Saito pitched the final three innings without giving up a hit.

The Dodgers are now 18-14 on the season and hope to continue their hot play as they play the Mets again on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers couldn’t get the hitting going again after only scoring one run in the fourth inning and losing to the Braves 6-1 in Atlanta on Sunday putting the Dodgers at 7-11 for the year.  They really need to pick up some more wins to get out of this losing slump.

Hiroki Kuroda is now 1-2 for the year after the loss to Atlanta on Sunday.  He pitched six innings before giving up the mound allowing seven hits and two runs to come in.  Joe Beimel and Scott Proctor finished the game for the Dodgers.  Proctor allowed five hits and four earned uns in his 1.2 innings of action.

Wasn’t a big hitting night for the Dodgers with the only big hit coming from Russell Martin
as he hits his second home run of the year.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will now battle against the Cincinnati Reds in Cincinnati on Monday
night.  They really need to hit the ball better on the road to have a chance at bringing the season back to where they want it.
