The Los Angeles Dodgers hit three home runs on Monday night as they went onto defeat the New York Mets 5-1.  Rafael Furcal got things started with a lead off home run to start the game off of Oliver Perez.  Blake DeWitt and Matt Kemp both went deep in the fifth inning off of Perez as well.

Besides the RBI’s from Furcal, DeWitt, and Kemp, Russell Martin also had a RBI single in the first inning.  The Dodgers only struck out three times in the game and only left seven guys on base.  It was a productive night at the plate.

Chad Billingsley picked up the win for the Dodgers as he tossed six innings of five hit ball.  He did allow one run while walking four batters and striking out four batters.  Joe Beimel, Jonathan Broxton, and Takashi Saito pitched the final three innings without giving up a hit.

The Dodgers are now 18-14 on the season and hope to continue their hot play as they play the Mets again on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were not able to close out the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night as the Pirates scored three runs in the 9th inning to beat the Dodgers 6-4.  The Dodgers went into the last inning ahead by one run, and then with two outs in the 9th inning, the Nate McLouth hit a three-run home run to beat the Dodgers.

Takashi Saito took the loss as he served up the home run to McLouth.  Saito was trying to close the game for Hiroki Kuroda who pitched six innings and allowed seven hits and three earned runs.

James Loney, Andruw Jones, Blake DeWitt, and Kuroda all had RBI’s for the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were never really in the game last night as the Arizona Diamondbacks put a butt kicking on them by the score of 10-5.  The Dodgers really couldn’t figure out Doug Davis who was making his last start before having thyroid surgery.  Dodgers pitching also sucked as the Diamondbacks scored 10 runs off of 12 hits.

Chad Billingsly took the loss for the Dodgers.  Billingsly only lasted 2.1 innings in a terrible performance.  He gave up five hits, five runs (four were earned), walked three, and struck out one batter.

Hong-Chih Kuo stopped the bleeding for the next 3.2 innings as he didn’t allow a run, but after Kuo was done, Ramon Troncoso came into the game for an inning and gave up four earned runs on only two hits.  Jonathan Broxton pitched the 8th inning and also allowed an earned run.  Terrible job by the pitchers except for Kuo.

Blake DeWitt and Jeff Kent both had two RBI’s each for the Dodgers.  Andre Ethier picked up the other RBI.
