It’s not another injury to a starter, but Clayton Kershaw’s rough start Tuesday might have scared the Dodgers just as much.
Already down two starters because of Vicente Padilla’s elbow soreness and Charlie Haeger’s struggles, the Dodgers can’t be comfortable about Kershaw’s regression this season.
Kershaw has always shown control problems in his young career. He walked 91 batters last year, third most in the National League. But he also posted an overall ERA of 2.79, fifth best in the NL. His home ERA of 1.83 was tops in the league.
On Tuesday, there was no give and take. It was all Brewers, as they scored seven times off Kershaw and managed to pin the 22-year-old with his shortest career start (1 1/3 innings).
