The Los Angels Dodgers are going to be thin at the third base position when they start the the 2008 season later this month.  Andy LaRoche and Nomar Garciaparra were planned to battle it out for the starting job but now that is all up in the air.

First it was Garciaparra being hit with a pitch on the right wrist in the fourth inning in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals.  X-rays were negative and Garciaparra will be re-evaluated in a few days.

After Garciaparra was taken out of the game, LaRoche came in and on an attempted pickoff move from the catcher, the ball bounced off the runner and hit LaRoche in the thumb.  All that caused a torn ligament in the thumb that will require surgery and sideline LaRoche for eight to ten weeks!

Everyone better hope that Nomar stays healthy!

It is getting closer and closer to spring training for the Los Angeles Dodgers and there is a brand new Dodgers blog ready to get going!  Dodgershomeplate will be blogging about the Dodgers pretty much everyday.  From game reviews, rumors & transactions, and all the way to Dodgers tickets and merchandise, we will have all sorts of Dodger talk going around!

Will the Dodgers make it back into post season play in 2008?  Can they get by the Diamondbacks, Rockies, and Padres?  Right now it looks like an up hill battle for the Dodgers, but that is why they play the game!  Who knew last year, that the Colorado Rockies would be playing in the World Series?!  That is why we have to keep staying positive for the Dodgers, because anything anything can happen!
