In somewhat of a suprising move, the Los Angeles Dodgers have released relief pitcher Rudy Seanez.  Seanez didn’t have the best spring training of his career as he had a 7.71 ERA but that was only in four innings of action.

I’d expect Seanez to retire from the game of baseball after being released.  He had planned on retiring before last season if he didn’t make the Dodgers roster.  Thanks for everything you put in for the Los Angeles Dodgers Mr. Seanez.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are going to have to scramble to find a third basemen as Nomar Garciaparra will be out for a while after break a bone in his right hand.  There is a chance that Garciaparra could be back by opening day, but I don’t think they should rush an injury like this.   Nomar could struggle all season long with a hand injury and I would rather have him just take time off to make sure it is 100% healed before he plays.

In other moves, the Dodgers optioned Eric Stults and Greg Miller to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made some roster moves as they continue to trim down their spring training roster at the big league camp.

Jon MeloanMario Alvarez, James McDonald, and Justin Orenduff were all sent to Triple-A Las Vegas from Spring Training.

Young pitching phenom Clayton Kershaw was recently promoted to the big league camp with the Los Angeles Dodgers leaving his buddies back in the minor league camp wondering if he would ever come back.

Kershaw threw a hitless inning on Sunday for the Dodgers as he threw only 10 pitches and got Mike Lowell, J.D. Drew and Sean Casey out.

Kershaw isn’t planned to be on the big league roster when camp breaks in three weeks, but manager Joe Torre really likes what he sees with him, he just doesn’t want to rush him to the big leagues and see the highly touted player struggle.

The Dodgers have a great young prospect that you should see in a Dodgers uniform later this year more then likely.  Hopefully he will be able to put up the kind of numbers in the big leagues as he has in the minor leagues.

The Los Angels Dodgers are going to be thin at the third base position when they start the the 2008 season later this month.  Andy LaRoche and Nomar Garciaparra were planned to battle it out for the starting job but now that is all up in the air.

First it was Garciaparra being hit with a pitch on the right wrist in the fourth inning in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals.  X-rays were negative and Garciaparra will be re-evaluated in a few days.

After Garciaparra was taken out of the game, LaRoche came in and on an attempted pickoff move from the catcher, the ball bounced off the runner and hit LaRoche in the thumb.  All that caused a torn ligament in the thumb that will require surgery and sideline LaRoche for eight to ten weeks!

Everyone better hope that Nomar stays healthy!
